How Much Is Your Tweet Worth?

Do you believe that every tweet has a price tag? If so, how much is a person’s tweet worth?

Let’s use Charlie Sheen in this ABC News video as an exceptional example. He recently signed up a Twitter account. The number of his followers reached 1 million within 6 days and passed 2.5 million by now! Internships.com paid Charlie Sheen to endorse the website on Twitter and received more than 100,000 hits after his tweet. Even though the amount of how much Internship.com paid to Charlie Sheen remains a secret, there must be a high price tagged with this tweet. As suggested in the video, the value of a tweet can be determined with the following formula:

(Number of Followers ÷ 27) × $51.28 ÷ Number of Tweets

Using this formula, Lady Gaga’s tweet is worth almost $2.6 thousand and Charlie Sheen’s tweet is worth more than $5.1 thousand. My tweet? Actually, it is worth more than I thought. I could earn 22 cents every time when I tweet. Once again, I have to admit that Twitter is a very powerful tool for both customers and businesses (i.e. customer complaints and B2C communications).

How much is your tweet worth? Are you willing to pay a celebrity to tweet about your business? If so, what criteria will you use to select the “right” celebrity for endorsing your brand and products on Twitter? How do you determine the value of a celebrity’s tweet?

  1. I do not have a twitter, so I am missing out on this new "easy money" scheme. It is undoubtedly true that twitter is a great website to use for marketing as well as marketing through celebrities. Twitter'ers follow celebrities on twitter so they can easily feel connected with the celebrities they are following. Twitter allows fans to go inside the lives of celebrities and "follow" them 24/7, so that they can see what their favorite celebrities are really like away from Hollywood stages and cameras.

This celebrity to fan connection creates potential marketing schemes that are a lot more personal than ads or commercials. For Example; If a celebrity endorses a product via twitter, most likely it will seem like that celebrity actually has genuine feelings for the product they are endorsing, Opposed to a celebrity endorsing a product via commercial (in which it is obvious they are acting and being paid to sell the product). Twitter is a lot more personal than commercials, so viewers/users take messages and information differently than they would if they were watching television. This new way of personally endorsing products is a relief from the typical scripted ads and commercials we are use to seeing.

This bring up a very good question….how much is a celebrities tweet worth? I believe it all depends on how many twitter followers the celebrity has, as well as the celebrity’s current Hollywood status and relationship with fans. If the celebrity does not have strong followers in real life, the amount of followers they have on twitter does not really matter. In addition to number of followers and Hollywood status, the value of a tweet should be based on the product the celebrity is endorsing and how they are actually endorsing the product.

Seeing that twitter is a $10 billion company and is still growing, its safe to say you can expect to see more advertising and endorsing via twitter

  2. Although I am not too familiar with the Twitter world, nor do I have a Twitter account, it is amazing how is can be used as a place to market. This blog post brought its useful nature to my attention, while before I simply had no use or interest in it. I would definitely pay a celebrity to endorse my company or product. I see it as the billboard or T-shirt of the cyber world. Of course, as in any endorsement you want the right person, or in this case celebrity, to market your company or product. I would probably pick a celebrity that appeals to the same crowd that I am targeting, and who represents the same things whether it be morals, fun, or popularity.
As the world is favoring technology, and newer and newer technology is being invented, companies have to keep up with the times to market effectively. Twitter is a great way to do just this.

Luxury vs. Millennials and Their Technology: The Ritz-Carlton (By Julia Shorr)

Embodying the finest luxury experience, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, LLC has been established since 1983. In 1998, Marriott International purchased the brand offering it more opportunity for growth while being independently owned and operated. They are known for their enhanced service level as the motto states, “Ladies and Gentlemen serving Ladies and Gentlemen”. The luxury brand now carries 97 hotels and resorts internationally and is attempting to keep the aspects of luxury while keeping up with the trends of the technologically improving generations. The Varying Demographics of the Target Market The Ritz-Carlton’s typical target market includes: business executives, corporate, leisure travelers, typically middle-aged persons and elders, and families from the upper and upper-middle class section of society .   This infers a large range of types of travelers in which all are similar in that they are not opposed to spending extra for the luxurious ambiance. However, with

Is It OK for Hotel Staff to Wear Piercings and Tattoos?

Time has changed. I see more and more college students wearing piercings and tattoos nowadays, but is it OK for hotel staff to wear piercings and tattoos? The answer is “no, no, no.” According a report at USAToday.com, customers across the board do not want to see any hotel workers with pierced eyebrow, pierced tongue, tattooed arm, or nose ring. Some may argue that tattooed and pierced workers may seem more acceptable in edgy boutique hotels as compared to the big franchised hotels, but the survey results did not find any differences among a variety of lodging products. Many respondents believe people who wear visible tattoos and piercings are taking a high risk of their professional lives. If you stay in a hotel, do you mind being served by tattooed and/or pierced staff? What if you are the one who makes the hiring decision? Besides helping the environment, what other benefits can restaurants see from green food packages?

Restaurant curbside pickup evolved from the old-fashioned takeout service and has gained momentum since COVID. Restaurateurs embrace the concept, and consumers want it. Curbside pickup will remain an essential restaurant distribution method even after the pandemic. Do off-premises restaurant services add a burden to the environment? The surge of restaurant off-premises services (curbside pickup, takeout, or delivery) could harm the environment because many retailers use food containers and packages made of plastic for one-time usage. Research shows that our world populations produce 130 million tons of single-use plastic a year (including more than food packages here), but in the U.S., only 8% of all plastic products get recycled. Some restaurants have begun using more sustainable materials in food packaging (e.g., disposable containers). Their efforts deserve a round of applause! Nevertheless, it is unclear if their good deeds can also bring them monetary rewards. For example, can gr
